There’s generally one canister close to the starting zone that will expire in 4 or 5 turns, and one farther away you must grab within 10 turns. To collect MELD, one of your team needs to be adjacent to the canister – which really just looks like a yellow pillar jutting out of the ground – and you left-click to activate it.

Experienced soldiers > a canister of meld. Don't risk your guys just to get 10 meld. A sergeant is worth more. Rookies on the other hand can make a risky dash provided you are covered if you expose 2 squads of aliens.

1 Answer. You should play Enemy Within. The expansion simply adds new upgrades, options, mission types, etc. to the base game; the basic story progression does not change. Thus, there's no compelling reason to play Enemy Unknown if you own Enemy Within, unless you really don't like something it adds to the game.

Hover shivs are amazing. When in flight mode high above the ground, they are pretty defensible and have pretty good accuracy with plasma weapons. This. Regular SHIVs are decent if one of your main soldiers is laid up injured, and you don't want to send a rookie on a difficult mission.Oct 9, 2012
