Jun 16, 2012 · Office 2010 never asked for a key, you have to do it through control panel, the help menu or the disk. I uninstalled and reinstalled. The key continues to validate as appropriate, but it will not change the registry to show that the software is registered. I went back to Office 2007 (and yes this does ask for a key before installing).
