A stage can consist of one or more parts on the spacecraft. Upon activation of the stage, all parts within become active. Engines will engage, parachutes will prime, decouplers will detach. When designing spaceships, it is essential to put all parts into their correct stages.Aug 9, 2015

Asparagus staging was a method to build very efficient rockets in early versions of Kerbal Space Program. The stock vessel Kerbal X demonstrates this technique.Jul 19, 2019

An action group is a group of part actions that can be triggered using certain buttons or keys. They can be configured under the Action Groups tab in the VAB or SPH .
When a part is selected it also shows all actions possible which can be triggered and will highlight all parts which are affected. The action apply to all parts which are placed together with symmetry. From there it is possible to add remaining actions to the sequence.
An action group can cause any action that can also be triggered by right-clicking a part and making a selection from its popup menu. This makes action groups useful for coordinating the functions of multiple parts all over a spacecraft, or for making the same change to several identical parts. Action groups trigger all their parts simultaneously, allowing quick changes in situations where using the popup menus would be impractical or dangerous, such as surface landings or while the engines are throttled up during a maneuver.
Step 1 - Choose a Bigger Rocket. Return to the Kerbal Space Center, choose the Launch Pad, and select the Kerbal X (Stock) premade rocket, then click the green Launch button. This is a much taller, multi-stage rocket, with nine stages, numbered 0 through 8.
The Kerbal 2 rocket is designed with 3 stages. The very first stage releases the rocket from its supporting structure and ignites the rocket engine. This rocket doesn't carry much fuel, and it quickly runs out at an altitude of about 2700 meters.
Click on the launch pad near the upper-right of your screen. You'll know you've selected the launch pad because it says Launch Pad in the lower-left corner of your screen. Click once on Kerbal 2 (Stock). The "Stock" label means it's one of the game's premade rockets.
Because your orbit is circular and not a straight line, that marker always moves. Facing "ahead" on one side of the planet means facing "backwards" when you're on the opposite side.
In space, speed and altitude are closely related. In orbit, your altitude determines your speed, and your speed determines your altitude. It's impossible to stay in your current orbit and go any faster or slower. You always orbit at exactly the "right" speed for that altitude. Speeding up won't make you go faster; it will push you into a higher orbit (farther from the planet). Likewise, slowing down will force you into a lower orbit (closer to the planet). There is no way to "chase" another spacecraft orbiting at the same altitude as you; you'll never catch each other.
Depending on your PC, it may take 1–3 minutes for the game to load. Overmodders (see Plugins) may see loading times of up to thirty minutes, so don't get too trigger happy with that download button until you've completed this tutorial. Choose Start Game.
Can't you just aim straight up to get into orbit? Alas, no. Even with a bigger rocket, you can' t just aim at the sky and hope for the best. Achieving orbit requires a simple, but important, maneuver called the gravity turn. Let's start by selecting a bigger rocket.
Your first stage should consist of the boosters (and launch clamps , if you have any), and your second the decouplers and the central engine. When you go to launch, hit the spacebar and your boosters will activate. When they burn out, hit the spacebar again; your boosters will separate and your main engine will activate.
In flight, every time you press the spacebar, the next stage activates (the Stage action group also fires every time you do this). For example, let's say your rocket consists of a central engine and some boosters attached via radial decouplers. Your first stage should consist of the boosters (and launch clamps, if you have any), ...
You can use plus to add a bunch of empty stages. Then it's as simple as dragging the items you want to the proper stage. So in my case, I put the solid boosters in stage 5, the first to fire. Then decouplers in 4, the main engine in 3, a decoupler in 2 and a parachute in 1.
